When we explain the benefits and true differences found in using data-driven insights to drive better outcomes, we also explain that the numbers can provide true “aha” moments as a byproduct of training your imagination. It’s a different approach, and it’s the result of a lot of questioning the status quo and brainstorming on the “what ifs” for creating better training and outcomes for helping professionals.
It took a lot of imagination.
We’re all aware of harnessing the power of imagination for various therapies to engage patients in creative ways, and have even studied the effects of “imaginary placebos” to alter responses¹, but to what extent do we as professionals enlist our own imaginations? How can we use it in designing our day, shaping our compasionate concerns, in problem solving, stress management and self care?
We all have the adaptive capacity of imagining hypothetical episodes, so supplementing our training and experience with tools like imagineering (goal setting tying emotional responses to milestones) may yield new perspectives in (and motivations for) handling difficult scenarios, schedules and case loads.
In our daily pursuits at Vitality we consider training your imagination to be a valuable tool in unlocking possibilities and honing our responses to needs, and would suggest you do some research too, to learn how harness emotional imagery to spark new ideas and paths to better performance.
