September 4th was a great day at the Missouri Community Action Network (CAN) Summer Seminar. in Kansas City.
Featuring a dynamic array of leaders delivering talks in the opening session and three breakout sessions, Missouri CAN attendees got to experience a rich mix of updates and training sessions curated to make this gathering life-changing for professionals from across the Midwest.
Missouri CAN Executive Director Megan Bania promised attendees that the event’s connections and conversations would ripple outwards to create positive change across Missouri, and by all counts, the seminar delivered on all fronts.

Dr. Rebekah Freese presented on day two with her training “Regulate, Advocate, Communicate: Mastering Difficult Interactions With Clients, equipping audience members with the tools for utilizing evidence-based self-management and communication skills in navigating difficult situations.
Key to this was understanding was discussion of emotional regulation techniques for staying grounded under pressure via an evidence-based framework to enhance professional effectiveness, reduce workplace stress and ultimately preserve relationships while achieving desired outcomes.
In the brief session, Freese drew from evidence-based practices in the works of Drs. Marsha Linehan (DBT) and Aaron Beck (CBT) to illustrate the benefits of utilizing the data to teach and model for clients with clarity, compassion and confidence.
Freese’s training was one of many such appearances scheduled for the next 18 months, as Vitality works to increase its reach across Missouri for organizations and individual practices and helping professionals.
