Our experiences with clients and staffs have shown that helping professionals are at high risk of being affected by the negative aspects of their work including compassion fatigue.
Vicarious trauma is the helper’s affective, cognitive, physiological, and behavioral response to treating trauma. Helping professionals are much more likely to use substances, struggle with work-life balance, and experience PTS symptoms compared to the general population.
That being noted, Vitality tailors its programs and trainings to address what recent literature reveals: that if given the capacity to practice self-compassion in times of suffering, staffs are better prepared for the work they do¹

We know that professionals, tasked with providing services are also managing their own trauma responses.
We know that professionals, tasked with providing services are also managing their own trauma responses. In our experience they are often seeking answers and modalities, and are hungry for continuing professional development. From an organizational standpoint, managers struggle to retain staff as the workforce is overburdened and under-resourced, and caseloads are the highest they have ever been.
Vitality’s systems and people work with organizations and individual providers to build confidence via a better process. We understand that access to evidence based and informed training to manage client trauma and self-trauma is one of the best ways to mitigate impact for providers and clients.
Staff will be given access to relevant, evidence-based and informed, accessible, and incentivized training to:
1. Aid in their capacity to serve vulnerable populations
2. Aid in their own capacity to manage vicarious trauma and work-life balance
3. Significantly enhance case management in their community
Each training program we design is developed and delivered by Vitality professionals to equip staffs/individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively implement a tailored proposed practice model. Our training agendas will be based on individual site needs, and informed by staff, assessment, and data analytics. The program will adhere to adult learning principles, evidence based and informed practice.
What we do is specific to the needs expressed in initial discovery sessions. There’s no boilerplate template or a quick seminar to fill a square. It’s always our goal to deliver solutions and provide helping professionals with data-based tools they can readily implement in their daily pursuits.
If you would like to know more, please book your own discovery session to learn how Vitality can assist you in creating lasting change.
